My Woolies commercial came out, where I鈥檓 grocery shopping in full drag, basket of goodies on my arm and perusing the nuts section.
Doesn鈥檛 everyone pop down to the supermarket with a full face of makeup or is it just me?
We also welcomed to our shores mega pop star Lady Gaga to perform for 1000 people at Town Hall. Even friends who have been haters from the start of her career were dressing up like crazy 鈥楪aga Monsters鈥 trying to win those elusive tickets. Many years ago I probably would have been one of them, but not any more.
Maybe I have matured or would prefer to watch the concert on a DVD, which no doubt will be out in the next couple of months, from the comfort of my lounge, under the doona.
Don鈥檛 get me wrong. If I got a ticket, I鈥檇 have been there in a flash, and I would have worn my meat on the outside too.
But do you get to a point where you think, 鈥淚鈥檓 going to leave it for the young kids鈥? Is there an age cut-off for a Lady Gaga concert? Is there an age cut-off for anything?
All this has come about after seeing my face on the big screen in the food court in Pitt St mall, and thinking, 鈥淥h lord is that me?鈥. I went into a spiral, thinking, how long can you actually do this? Does the career I love have an expiry date?
Is there a time you look into the mirror and instead of seeing a glamorous creature, you see a terracotta pot with eyelashes?
It鈥檚 like most things, especially in the entertainment industry 鈥 you have to change as times change. What was absolutely fabulous 15 years ago may not be fabulous now and, if fashion trends are consistent, won鈥檛 be fabulous again for another 10 years when it all comes back.
There should be no cut-off age for anything. If anything, as you get older you should get better. Changing with the world and understanding that things change for a reason keeps you younger than you are. Go to a Lady Gaga concert, get a tattoo, learn to breakdance. If you want to do it, just do it.
This has no effect on the fact that I have booked in for my first botox treatment. Keeping young on the inside is one thing, but being about to plant a row of tomatoes in thecreases on your forehead is another.
terracotta pot with eyelashes! haha… luv ya Maxi!!
