“Let your brother wear the fuckin’ Santa hat,” the pregnant bogan yelled at her wayward child, clipping her around the top of her head. “I won’t tell ya again, Britney-Lea – and there’s plenty more where that came from,” warned the mother. I counted four screaming kids, no partner, and another due any moment. “All of yoos, get in the cab NOW!” And they were gone.
It was like I’d stepped into some ghastly parallel universe, surrounded by that atrocious redneck family from The Simpsons. All I could think was; what chance do these poor little buggers stand? Dumbass hicks thoughtlessly spawning offspring they’re unable to support.
Meanwhile, committed, caring and capable gay and lesbian parents wait patiently to adopt.
When you ask people why they believe kids need male and female parents, you might hear ‘they need a balance of role models.’ But why? ‘Because that’s how it should be’ is not an answer. Gender norms are a societal paradigm. Isn’t a sound upbringing more important than the sexual orientation of the parents? Kids usually seek out their own role models anyway. I drifted towards Mum. But I also I recall looking up to Wonder Woman, doing the Locomotion with Kylie, and wanting to be top dog in Prisoner.
There are also those who find themselves role models because they’re openly gay. Matthew Mitcham, Josh Thomas, and Sam Sparro. They’re a world away from the prehistoric archetypes. And they’re inclined to show people we’re ‘normal’.
Indubitably, that awful bogan mother was no role model. Raised on KFC and Red Bull, by the age of 10 her kids will be idolising Lindsay Lohan and Chopper Reid. By 15 they’ll be stealing cars and injecting meth. They’ll have done time by 20. Hopefully, I’m just being a cynical snob.
Hopefully, by then, we’ll have equality. And GLBTI couples will be able to marry and adopt.
Role models have their place. But maybe our experiences are more inclined to govern our moral compass. I got over my Prisoner fixation. And I can’t remember the last time I watched Wonder Woman. Did I pave my own way? Who knows? But I still do a pretty mean Locomotion.
Does that count?

A bastard I may be in your humble opinion but I believe in this concept called freedom of speech. Something a particular minority group in society relishes but seems to have a problem with the rest of us excercising. I don’t hate anybody for your information but I’m certain I represent a majority viewpoint on this issue, which actually means you’re the one dwelling in a false reality. Instead of ranting and raving like a fool why don’t you go out into the real world and try and change some hearts and minds through rational debate. Only if you’re up to it though!!!
Boris has shown us he is a nutty Christian from his many posts.
Of course the reality is some Nuns and Priest killed children in their care. But there is no problem with that. If we are to follow Boris down his Evil path adoption should only be about the sexuality of the person, not the ability to provide a safe and loving home. Perhaps Boris might care to read the Forgotten Generation report. Better still perhaps Boris can spend time with some of the people in Rainbow Families or Gay Dad’s. No Boris?
Boris is trying to promote an absurd proposition. Shall we start to take legal action against our heterosexual parents?
What a bastard Boris is to write into here with his vile words of hate, trying to create trouble.
Reality and Boris simply do not mix.
Boris the abuse rate of children in heterosexual homes is presently far, far higher than one in a hundred- by your logic no one should be allowed to adopt.
The truth is that 100 gay couples could adopt children and 99 of those children could grow up as happy, well adjusted citizens of society. But if just one of those children were to turn out resentfull and angry at having gay adoptive parents and denounced the practise publicly then it could undermine the whole thing beyond repair, especially if they had the mind to sue those responsible for millions of $. The fact is no supporter of gay adoption can say for sure that this would never happen. Some risks are not worth taking.
So True!!!!
i bet that feral woman was morbidly obese and stuffing her face whilst belting her children too …….. yeah, great role model !
Hehehe, this is hilarious!!! Your points about role models are so true too….. I do not look up to either of my parents, sadly…. I have made my own way in the world, as I believe many of us do
Bravo!! Well said Damian!
