OMFG! It’s that time of year again — bah humbug!
Good for some but hideous for me! As you all know, I am Western Sydney’s answer to the Grinch.
I’ve had to cancel our NYE party at Heaven due to lack of pre-sold tickets. Here’s a tip guys, pre-sold tickets confirm the number of attendees. Those numbers will confirm if an event can go ahead. I’ve learnt a valuable lesson — some people are their own worst enemy, they want things out west, but when they’re on, they don’t support them. Hopefully this will not have a roll-on effect next year when we launch our new shows. For more info, visit the gorgeous website:
One good thing has come out of December for me and that was a very successful Red Party at Kaleidoscope. It was very successful considering it was our first fundraiser there. We raised $1155 for ACON West at the World’s AIDS Day appeal.
Let’s not talk about the entertainers who didn’t turn up or pulled out at the last minute after nagging me for weeks to be part of it. And don’t get me started on my drag daughters who arrived late as one decided to sleep on the train and the other forgot things at home, including her manners! I’m the mother, sweetie darling!
But I do have to say a big Thank You to all who attended, donated and assisted on the night.
It’s time to move forward and as this year comes to a screeching halt, I’ve decided on my New Year resolutions and hopefully can achieve these. Here’s my list:
Firstly, no more soft drinks!
Lastly, separate myself from people who have no respect for me and speak down to me. The next person who screams at me will be given the boot! I’m just about to turn 45 and I can’t cope with these self-absorbed people who have no respect. Respect is earned and I think I’ve earned a little bit, don’t you?
It’s out with the old and in with the older! I’ve taken over as hostess with the mostest at Kaleidoscope social dance (first Saturday of every month). I’ve also taken on the role of entertainment coordinator of ‘It’s Showtime’ at Richard’s On The Park. Also there are is a brand new cast and crew at Heaven social dance (returning February 25).
I’ll keep you updated on the ever-changing changes that seem to happen in the West. You’ll have to forgive me as I’ve got a lot on my plate and I can only spread myself so far!
Drag gossip: I’m OK with playing taxi driver but it’s disappointing when I miss out on the action in the back seat of my brand new car — even if they were fully clothed.
Which westy drag got SHAFTed finally? After playing Miss Frigid for years! Obviously not one of my daughters!
Is there enough space in the west for three singing drag queens? Who’s your favourite?
Until next time, gorgeous, Merry Christmas and a Gay New Year!
INFO:
It’s all very well and good to offer a night out for western sydney folk, but it doesn’t mean that western sydney people will necessarily choose your even as opposed to another night in the city.
Get over it.
