Sweet treats lend a hand
The poor mistreated cake has had a lot of PR work to do for itself over recent years. With an information overload about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet, the humble cake barely gets a look in. Here on the Northern Rivers we are about to change all that and let people surrender themselves to some delicious deserts and help out a community organisation at the same time.
Tropical Fruits Inc. will host Fruitopia fair day on Sunday 28 August at Lismore Showgrounds and as part of the festivities ACON Northern Rivers will be hosting our very successful Bake Off. This year it’s titled “Go Ahead, Cake My Day” with categories from creative kids, fun’n’fruity and craving chocolate right up to the corporate cake over category! It’s a blast of colours and flavours and a great family day in the sunshine. Everyone is encouraged to enter a cake or just turn up on the day and purchase some of the wonderful and delicious creations on offer . For information and registration details, please contact Sioux on 6622 1555.
Monogamy As An HIV And STI Prevention Strategy is a research project from the Gay Men And Relationships Study: The study is a collaboration between researchers at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society at La Trobe University in Melbourne, and The Kirby Institute for Immunity and Infection in Society at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Researchers will be visiting the Northern Rivers in early August as part of the study. The project has received ethical approval from the ACON ethics committee and the ethics committees of both universities.
The research will ask participants to describe and explore their experiences and thoughts on relationships, monogamy and open relationships. Participation involves a 60 minute interview in a convenient location. Confidentiality of the information provided is assured.
