With more than 10,000 people living with HIV and an average of one new infection diagnosed in NSW almost every day, World AIDS Day remains an important date on the calendar across Southern NSW.  If you are in Crown Street Mall on the Friday, November 30, drop by the ACON stall and buy a red ribbon to demonstrate your support for people living with, and affected by HIV/AIDS. Volunteers will be selling Red Ribbon merchandise between 10am-2pm.

To commemorate World AIDS Day 2012, the South Coast Writers Centre will host a competition on the topic of HIV/AIDS – All in a Day’s Script. There are cash prizes up for grabs so get your key boards tapping and get creative.  For all the details visit contact director@southcoastwriters.org.au or phone (02) 4222 0151

If you are in Albury and looking for something to do on World AIDS Day, then stop by QEII.  The Place Youth Centre and Murrumbidgee Local Health District, have team up to put on ‘Piecing It All Together’ a free community event between 11am-1pm. The day includes as well as a sausage sizzle, games, drumbeats and stalls.

And finally, with a name like ‘Diva La Gong’, you know you are in for a truly camp night out. Wollongong Unity is asking you to drag out those platforms, get into your Stonewash jeans and tease up your afro. The night kicks off at 8pm at the Illawarra Steelers Club and it promises to be memorable with raffles, prizes and shows.  The event costs $10 on the door with a donation to ACON Illawarra.
