No sooner does one festival, Leather Pride, end then another begins – with Bear Pride set to get underway in just over two weeks.
Sydney Bear Pride is our winter festival of food, film and fun for bears, cubs our friends and admirers. Running from August 25-28 and only in its second year, Bear Pride has quickly become an essential part of every bear’s social calendar.
As the fastest growing (Harbour City Bears has 800 members) and friendliest part of the gay community we have every reason to feel proud. With seven events over four days we invite you to come along and have some fun. Full details at our special website www.bearpride.com.au
Harbour City Bears is also proud to be part of the Buck$ Night marriage equality fundraiser happening at Slide on September 23.
Organised by Pete Urmson from New Mardi Gras and Randel Morris from Club Exile, it’s going to be a great night with DJs Baby Bear, Matt Effect, Gavyn Vincze, Frankie Shin and others plus a shows by a host of community groups and some hot bears.
Whether or not you have plans to marry the husbear of your dreams, the fact remains that Australian law says two guys or two girls just can’t do it. Harbour City Bears disagrees with this and instead supports full marriage equality so that those of us who want to marry can.
One hundred per cent of ticket sales from the Buck$ Night fundraiser will go to the community group Australian Marriage Equality who are leading the campaign to overturn the law.
Please buy tickets online from Daisy Tickets www.daisytickets.com/Event/Sydney-BUCK$-NIGHT-tickets.aspx and encourage your mates to do the same.
When we finally overturn the ban on same-sex marriages we’ll all feel very proud.
