Those of you who know me and have read my articles know I am a big queen with an even bigger mouth and one who is never scared to ‘Say Something’.
With this as the theme for the upcoming Mardi Gras Parade, I am very interested to see what the GLBT communities come up with.
Christian Democratic Party candidate Peter Madden has already had his say, and it has already caused a lot of controversy.
These politicians — we love to hate them or should that be hate to love them?
Other political leaders are also having their say, and luckily very few are in agreement with Madden.
With all eyes on our community, it is time to rise and shine and put our ‘say’ across.
“The whole point of the event is that it’s an outdoor festival that promotes and celebrates the visibility of our community,” Michael Rolik (NMG CEO) said.
Speaking of visibility, this year I have decided to do something with my daughter LayDee KinMee. Hopefully she won’t leave me disappointed like my other nameless daughter did last year.
What will we be doing? I can’t tell you now gorgeous, but let’s just say it will be very visible, so keep an eye out for us.
Speaking of places where you can keep your eyes out for us, Kaleidoscope is having their first dance for 2011 on this Saturday, February 5. Performers will include Beverly Buttercup, LayDee KinMee, Miss Willie, Redsona and Sassy, with music by DJ Brett Fish.
Doors open at 8.30pm with a $10 cover charge that will go towards the victims of the Toowoomba floods. So come along to Kaleidoscope at the Parramatta Golf Club, Park Pde, Parramatta.
Also in Western Sydney, my little baby Heaven is due for its next instalment on February 26.
Debuting this night is the Prisoner Cell Block H(eaven) Show.
As you know, I will not be in this show, as I am concentrating on running the night and being the MC. From the snippets I’ve heard so far, the show is sure to be fabulous and a must-see. Which of Western Sydney’s favourite (or not-so-favourite) drag queen is going to have the shit beaten out of her? You’ll have to come and see.
Show cast to include: Gracie Lou as Lizzie Birdsworth, Sue Pernatural as Margot Gaffney, LayDee KinMee as Chrissie Latham, Rusty Boxxx as Queen Bea Smith and cameo appearance by Ida Slapda as Joan ‘The Freak’ Ferguson.
Special guest performer for February dance will be 2010 DIVA Rising Star, Christina Dior. More information at www.heavensocialdance.com
Drag gossip: Apparently DJ Rita will be hanging up her CDs after 13 years of co-coordinating The Dolphins Dance in Parramatta.
Don’t worry, Western Sydney, this is not the end of the event. Rumour has it that Dolphins will be transforming itself into a new night called Candy’s in Parramatta. I wonder where that name came from?
Til next time gorgeous, be safe, play safe and hope to see you at Fair Day and Mardis Gras.
