It’s a month to celebrate

It all starts with Kaleidoscope celebrating its second birthday on June 2. It was founded by the wonderful Janice Waters back in 2010 at the Parramatta Hotel. Soon after, it moved to its current location at the Parramatta Golf Club.

It was last year that I was asked to take over the running of this fabulous night.

Two years may not seem to be a huge milestone to many, but as far as social nights in Western Sydney go, this is a great achievement. Many people don’t realise that these social nights are run as private functions and we have to pay to be there as well as pay the entertainers. So come along and show your support!

This special event will be hosted by the singing sensation Prada Clutch with many special guests including the wonderful talents of Melicious D’amage, Lola Del Arté, Koko D’Vyne and many more.

So I’ll see you all at the Parramatta Golf Club on June 2 from 8.30pm.

The celebrations continue as we pack our faux furs, muffs, mittens and merkins and head off to the mountains.

So much is happening in June in the Blue Mountains and it begins with the launch of pinkFEST at a special fundraising performance by Blue Mountains Playback Theatre on Sunday, June 3. The event will be held at Wentworth Falls School of Arts which also hosts bentART from Friday, June 8 – Monday, June 11. BentART is Australia’s largest LGBTQ art exhibition.

To see the sights, the Queen’s Birthday bushwalk presented by Bush Lemons is on Saturday, June 9 at Wentworth Falls at 10.30am. It’s not my thing, I’d probably have a heart attack.

Film buffs like me will love Kawa, a film screening presented by pinkFEST and QueerScreen on Saturday, June 9 at 3pm at Scenic World, Katoomba.

I’m so excited because I have been asked back to host the annual Queen’s Birthday Disco and Talent Quest fundraiser. I will be joined on stage by the outrageous Sandy Bottom and a variety of acts competing for cash prizes and entertaining you during the evening.

It will be held on Saturday, June 9, 7.15pm–1.15am, at the Blackheath Community Hall. Tickets at the door $20.

The Disco and Talent Quest is an annual event attracting hundreds of people from all directions. It is a relaxed BYO event and a fun night of dancing and entertainment. People are guaranteed a terrific night of socialising with friends old and new. Get in early to get a good seat. Music by Sound Affair. Snack bar and soft drinks available.

It is followed by A Winter Masquerade Annual Queen’s Birthday Ball, presented by the Three Sisters Social Group on Sunday, June 10, 7.30pm–1.30am at Fairmont Resort, Leura.

It’s a very popular night so I suggest you book your tickets fast, if it is not sold out already.

Visit for more details and to book.

It all ends with a BBQ brunch with Sandy Bottom on Monday, June 11 at 10.30am. Join your host and tourist guide Sandy Bottom for a festival farewell at Scenic World for a BBQ brunch before taking the plunge to the valley floor on the world famous Scenic Railway. Here Sandy will guide you round the boardwalk, giving you never-before-heard insights into the local flora and fauna in a fun-filled celebration of the long weekend events. Hilarity will prevail!

Tickets include the BBQ breakfast, refreshments and the return trip on the Scenic Railway. Bookings essential on 02 4780 0250.

I hope you enjoy the pinkFEST long weekend and that you get along to as many things as you can.

Last but not least, I want to touch on the Sydney Pride Festival – Equal Love, June 13 – 30. Look out for their new upcoming website,

The festival includes theatre, art, film, debates, dinners, fashion, music, sport, club events and charity fundraising. It will finish with Western Sydney’s annual ACON fundraiser at Heaven
Social Dance on June 30, but more on that next month.

Drag gossip: I’ve only just discovered what a merkin is and made one out of my son’s back hair. Now I want one to match each of my wigs!

If you have any drag gossip, email me.

Until next time, gorgeous! BB xoxo
