Beers, steers and queers
The Sydney Leather Pride Association presents Carnal CattleProd, the party for beers, steers and queers, this Saturday night. It’s the wild, wild west in the inner city at Phoenix at the Exchange.
The icon of the cowboy has been celebrated in popular culture, from Hollywood Westerns and John Wayne through to Aussie stockmen and The Man from Snowy River. Iconic cowboys abound in film and music. When Randy Jones dressed as a cowboy in the Village People, I thought he looked hot.
Leather chaps were worn on a horse long before they were worn on a bike or in a leather bar. The stockwhip and the riding crop are favourites in both the leather bars and the outback. A pair of chunky-heeled, pointed-toe cowboy boots make an appropriate substitute for engineer’s or biker’s boots. The outfit and the cut of the outfit accentuate your best assets.
So Leather Pride has decided to pay homage to the icon that is the cowboy. Running from 10pm to 5am, with some of Sydney’s finest DJs, the floor will be filled with guys and gals dancing, although not the two-step or line-dancing.
This Saturday explore the country and western side of your personality with Leather Pride. We all have access to those boots, hats and the shirts with horseshoes, rhinestones and stars in our wardrobes somewhere.
I’ll be there and easy to spot — I’ll be the one in the black Stetson and the black Dingo boots.
Say G’day or Howdy and we’ll share a beer.
