Rainbow Babies – Happy Mother’s Day!

Rainbow Babies – Happy Mother’s Day!

For lesbian mums, Mother’s Day is a day of double happiness. We get to cherish and reflect on the special moments with our children and we get to celebrate our rainbow family and being part of the fabulous rainbow community.

I think a lot of us most probably went through a stage in our life where we never thought we would have children. Thankfully, now we have many options available to us to have our own child.

And while it is Mother’s Day we are celebrating this week, a big cheer needs to go out to all those kind men who have helped us achieve this.

While I’ll never get back all those hours of sleep lost, due to small children not understanding the concept of a sleep-in, and I can’t remember the last time I was able to finish a conversation in one sitting, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I know it sounds clichéd, but my children have changed my life and my life would be all the poorer without them. Some days, I am literally not without them — moving around this world not as a separate entity, but often with at least one limpet stuck to my bum. And please, no comments on my bum!

Rainbow Babies and Kids are celebrating Mother’s Day in style this year, with musical entertainment, craft and (the real winner) a jumping castle. Come along with your rainbow friends and family and help us celebrate.

So you can spend time with your own mums on the actual day, we are celebrating on Sunday, May 15, 10.30am-2pm. If you’re interested in coming, email [email protected] for further details.

I hope all mums have a great Mother’s Day — and that I get that sleep-in.
