Queer at work
Despite increasing acceptance of the issue of diversity, many employers and HR professionals are still reluctant to openly address issues that affect LGBT employees. Often workplaces have strong diversity polices regarding other minority groups, but LGBTs are often invisible or forgotten.
Healthy Communities is interested to find out which Queensland-based workplaces are providing an inclusive environment for their LGBT employees. This information will assist in informing the development of a Queensland-based workplace training program.
By conducting an LGBT organisational audit on your workplace and answering the following questions, you can inform us as to which workplaces are doing a great job and which may need some assistance to become more inclusive.
Do you work in a workplace that is inclusive of its LGBT employees in policy? Do you work in a workplace that is inclusive of its LGBT employees in practice? Does your workplace have an LGBT employee network?
