Mardi Gras were caught by the Advertising Standards Bureau for a postcard that was deemed “highly sexualised” to be distributed in cafes, cinemas, and the like. Mardi Gras conceded to the ruling and said the postcard was no longer in circulation. Do think:

  1. I personally think it is a fairly naf photo, and indeed in pretty uninteresting, From a gay and lesbian point of view I think it scores a great fat zero. From that point, it leaves me wondering who could think it affirms or celebrates gay and lesbian life. I could imagine it appealing to (straight, male) teenagers, and that is about it.

    If this were a central part of Mardi Gras’ advertising for this year’s party, all it indicates to me is that the organization has no idea what it is about.

    With Rupert Murdoch as your landlord, I can understand that. I gotta say the parties are now nice middle class affairs. If it makes money for GLTBI causes, then I suppose they can keep going. But otherwise, I say let Rupert have the Showgrounds back that night. They have run their course,

  3. Interesting options. I don’t like the image or think it reflect of Mardi gras but I don’t think it has anything to do with political correctness. It’s just a lame semi-sexualisation of the community and pretty boring.
