Lesbian health information sessions
The GLBT community in regional and rural NSW faces distinct challenges when it comes to maintaining their health and wellbeing.
In order to address some of these challenges, ACON is constantly working to extend the reach of our programs and services to the GLBT community in remote and regional NSW to break down isolation and improve access to health information and services for rural communities.
One way we are hoping to achieve this is through the Byte by Byte project. This project is a series of lesbian health information sessions that uses a synchronous online platform. Through this technology we are able to create a highly interactive forum for rural and regional lesbians and same-sex attracted women to connect with each other, allowing participants to share knowledge and health information without the hassle and costs associated with travel.
On Thursday, July 28 from 6pm, join rural and regional lesbians and same-sex attracted women for a fun and interactive online workshop about sexual health and all things “Vagina!” hosted by ACON Southern Region.
You can participate in this workshop from the comfort of your own home or, if you prefer, meet up with friends and/or your lesbian community group. This online platform even allows those located in remote areas access to sessions without high speed internet.
This online community event is only available to people who register with ACON’s Illawarra office. This allows for everyone’s safety and ensures the information shared remains confidential. If you’re unable to attend on the night you can register to watch the recordings at a later date.
Please contact ACON Illawarra on 02 4226 1163 or [email protected] for more information, system requirements and how to register.
