Ho Ho Ho! (why thank you, Santa, yes I am)
One good thing has come out of December and that was the World AIDS Day Red Party #2 at Kaleidoscope Social Dance at the Parramatta Golf Club. We raised $2,360 on the night which went directly to ACON Western Sydney and will be used for projects and events based in the Greater Western Suburbs.
I would like to say a big thank you to the 20 performers and the three fabulous hosts: Crystal Clear, Sandy Bottom and Laydee Kinmee. It was our biggest night ever with more than 200 people attending the Parramatta Golf Club. Also a big thank you to my partner in crime, Ian Stumbles, for helping me on the night and keeping me calm on the night. Hopefully this will be a sign of 2013 and patrons will continue to support our social nights in Western Sydney.
By now most people will know that we have reduced the amount of social dances from 18 per year to 12 per year, running one a month at the two different venues alternately with Heaven returning on January 19 with myself looking for some new talent to perform at our social nights in Western Sydney and give queens out west a place to perform.
We present Frocked Up on this night in January with a talent quest with a difference. Drag queens and drag kings from Western Sydney only are allowed to enter with cash prizes and paid gigs for the three finalists. This will encourage developing their drag and performance skills in a one off night on January 19. For more information please go:Â
It’s now all official, I am no longer associated with coordinating Showtime at Richards on the Park Canley Vale as some of the dates set for Heaven Social Group in 2013 will clash with Showtime. I was in negotiations with the management and my dear friend Prada Clutch to do every second month alternately between us. Negotiations broke down when management decided that the social dances were a conflict of interest as they clash with some of the dates. Therefore the decision was made that Prada will take over all my bookings at Richards on the Park in 2013. I would like to thank all the people that have supported me and performed for me in the last 12 months whilst working at Richards on the Park. Out with the old (me) in with the new (Prada).
Whilst on this subject, I do not do drag for a living as I have a full-time job and my first priority will always be to the LGBTI community; providing safe environments, raising awareness and money as Heaven and Kaleidoscope have done over the years. They’ve raised more than $14,000 for ACON and The Haven in Western Sydney.
I really hope that I can continue to do this in 2013 with your help. Please support our nights in Western Sydney. Please be aware that these social dances are not-for-profit social nights with all proceeds after initial costs being donated to charity. Initial costs are function fees, DJ hire and a small entertainment budget. On average we need 55 people to attend every dance otherwise it is not practical to run them.

DRAG GOSSIP
It’s that time of the year when everyone flees overseas for their cosmetic surgery – don’t get me started. Ida Slapda is having a touch up in Thailand with Sandy Bottom fleeing allegedly to perform but we know it is to find a new husband. It will be very interesting to see how many of my drag friends stay my friends in 2013 because I am unable to give them paid work.
Until next time gorgeous Merry Christmas and a Gay New Year. Be safe. Love BB  Â
