A very full dance card
When many organisations are winding down for the year ACON Northern Rivers really heats up in preparation for New Year events and celebrations.
The third Queer Fruits Film Festival (QFFF) returns with a bumper program of international queer films. It’s a wonderful chance to temporarily escape the humid heat of the Northern Rivers’ summer while enjoying handpicked celluloid for the LGBT community.
The QFFF kicks off on Thursday, December 29 and continues on December 30 for more fabulous films.
Please note: the venue has changed and all films will screen at the Lismore and District Workers Club in the Grand Auditorium. The address is 231 Keen St, Lismore. For enquiries and bookings, visit
Tropical Fruits Inc present their annual NYE party, with the theme Tribe, at Lismore Showgrounds. It promises to be another huge evening of music and happenings. People come from all over the country and the world to attend this uniquely Northern Rivers event.
Hang out in the cabaret space, amble through the art exhibition, enjoy the women’s, youth or transgender space or cut some fancy moves on any of three dance areas.
For those with plenty of juice in the proverbial tank, Sunday, January 1 will play host to the Tropical Fruits Pool Party from 10am till 4pm at the Lismore Memorial Baths.
And if you want to end the festivities with a recovery, head back to the Lismore Showgrounds from 4pm till midnight on New Year’s Day.
The Radical Faeries have a very full dance card for summer. Their recent Faeriegram alerts us to their Summer Solstice Gathering, December 18-23.
The Ozfaeries recently had a premiere of the movie Glitter. See the trailer
The Faeries will again look after the cloakroom and clean up at the Tropical Fruits NYE party, bless their glitter toe socks!
Other events include the Revelwood Gay Retreat near Bangalow from December 27 to mid-January. Accommodation has been expanded to include campers.
