A marriage equality debate in New South Wales yesterday got a bit more exciting when the representatives of the No campaign fell off stage.

Mark Latham fell backwards when his chair collapsed, taking Miranda Devine and Lyle Shelton with him, has reported.

They were uninjured.

The Yes side narrowly lost the debate, with 35 votes to 37.

Latham said that freedom is at stake in the marriage equality survey, claiming that people have been prosecuted for supporting 鈥榯raditional marriage鈥.

Social media users have posted their amusement at the No campaigners stacking it.

鈥淟yle Shelton, Mark Latham and Miranda Devine fall off the stage and it鈥檚 not even a metaphor,鈥 tweeted one person.

鈥淲hen karma sides with marriage equality,鈥 wrote another.

With the marriage survey closing on November 7, this is the final week that votes can be mailed in.

The result of the survey will be announced on November 15. Watch the GIF of the incident below:

  1. Maybe Mark will tell us the names of the people who have been, as he claims, “Prosecuted for speaking out in favour of traditional (heterosexual) marriage”. Their names must be available for it is unlikely any Court would have any reason to place a Suppression Order on them.
These claims by Latham are typical of people who will sink to any level to try to prove a point.
Latham should be now produce the people’s names, the dates and the sites of the Courts in which they have appeared to answer these alleged prosecutions
If he won’t then we will simply assume he is lying Typical for a politicians – either current ones or a failed one like Mark.
