Human Rights Commissioner Tim Wilson begins survey into LGBTI rights
HUMAN聽Rights Commissioner Tim Wilson has begun聽an online survey as 聽to explore key rights issues affecting the Australian LGBTI community.
Wilson is also the Australian Human Rights Commission’s聽spokesperson on sexual orientation, gender identity and intersex (SOGII) rights.
The聽aims to determine聽what legal protections exist and along with聽remaining聽legal obstacles, establish what聽services are provided and what are not, and what else is needed to be achieved聽to improve the lives of LGBTI people.
The survey will be bolstered聽by a number of meetings and community forums with LGBTI groups, organisations and individuals that Wilson has organised across the country in the past year.
However, participants only have until December聽23 to complete聽the survey.
A report would eventually be published to聽provides a map of current and future challenges, as well as recommendations for positive聽change.
The outcomes would also聽inform Wilson聽in the area of SOGII rights in his tenure as Human Rights Commissioner.
