Folau knew social media posts would offend but made them anyway
Controversial footballer Israel Folau told the annual conference of the Australian Christian Lobby over the weekend that he knew the social media posts that lead to his sacking by Rugby Australia would offend people before he made them, but did them anyway.
He told attendees at Sydney’s International Conference Centre that he had made a 鈥渃razy prayer鈥 for God to test his faith.
鈥淚 felt really content in my work, with God and how everything was going,鈥 Folau told the crowd.
鈥淎ll of a sudden I wanted to pray a crazy prayer and ask the Lord: 鈥楲ord, you know I鈥檓 feeling really comfortable at the moment, it鈥檚 going to test my faith and it鈥檚 going to test my trust. Am I going to continue to serve you faithfully?鈥
鈥淎nd God prepared this [legal stoush] for me. So, be careful what you wish for. God can give it to you.鈥
Folau told the conference that this 鈥渃razy prayer鈥 has been in his thoughts at the moment when he hit send on the posts that called transgender people 鈥渆vil鈥 in relation to birth certificate reform and said “drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolators” would go to hell unless they repented.
Asked whether he would behave in the same way if he had the chance to do it all over again, he said he wouldn’t have done anything differently.
“I knew it was going to be offensive to a lot of people,”聽Folau said.
Folau is fighting Rugby Australia over his sacking in the federal court, which came after he had already been warned about his social media posts and had agreed to abide by the sport’s code of conduct for professional players.
This new admission would seem to undermine his case even further.
Blame God, that’s good. So it was God’s will that this football moron be offensive? That’s not very nice of God now, is it? So it’s God’s will that it all goes to court, costing millions of dollars and countless hours of time? God must be bored. So if the football moron loses, that should also be God’s will to show the moron the error of the moron’s ways … that seems logical to me. So at no point is the moron taking responsibility for his actions.
The central message of Jesus was love, tolerance and forgiveness.
Folau’s actions demonstrated none of these attributes. He wasn’t acting on behalf of Jesus when he posted his Instagram message.
Face it Izzy, demons made you do it. You deserve to lose your wealth and your career (which requires you to be uncontroversial on behalf of your sponsors who pay you). Your hatred caused your actions and it’s causing the fallout now.
All you had to do was turn the other cheek.
What a loser.
