Inspired by a culture that objectifies the male physic – think Calvin Klein – a culture that turned man into the homoerotic, warming it to the idea of the beauty of the male body. A back lash of the subjection of the female nude to the nude male body as a result of the mainstreaming of gay male culture.

A new exhibition at Paris’ features some two hundred paintings, photographs and sculptures that celebrate the male nude entitled Masculin/Masculin that draws it’s collection from both the 18th and 19th centuries down to the present day, all which have equal place in the exhibition.
