Food and Wine Fair a success
The official figures aren’t in, but there’s no denying Saturday’s 2008 AIDS Trust Food and Wine Fair was a success, in spite of some weather-related setbacks.
The impending threat of rain may have kept numbers down at last weekend’s event, but AIDS Trust chief executive Nick Toonen said he was unconcerned about what the final figures might show.
The Food and Wine Fair went extremely well. We had a great turnout and the atmosphere was just wonderful and relaxed. People were clearly enjoying themselves and at 4.30pm there were still people sitting around sipping wine and enjoying the entertainment, Toonen said.
We’re still tallying up the totals in terms of the money brought in and the costs but we will have a clearer indication in the coming days, but I would estimate that we’re getting there.
The fact that it rained in the morning for a while probably kept the crowds down from previous years so that may impact the final results so we’ll wait and see, but people really seemed to love it and all the food went.
The highlight was absolutely the quality of food, right across the stalls and across the entertainment. It was great.

No financial details? In previous year’s the profit was announced the following day. Something smells….
