This year, Mardi Gras introduces its new centerpiece: Mardi Gras+. A world-class celebration of LGBTQIA+ life, is a rich tapestry of events celebrating the creativity, diversity and passion of the community.

For the first time, the festival is opening its doors to a line-up designed by and for every corner of the LGBTQIA+ world. From high-energy parties and thought-provoking arts, to inclusive sports and insightful community gatherings, Mardi Gras+ is your passport to the vast heart of queer culture.

For those looking to lose themselves in Mardi Gras fever, Mardi Gras+ Parties deliver to every taste. Don’t miss the Junipero X Muva Free to Be Fruity: Fair Day Party, a glittering disco with bangers, frozen margys and entertainment like burlesque and fire shows. Or, snag the hottest ticket in town: Trixie Mattel’s Solid Pink Disco. Hosted by the RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar, this rave is camp, fierce and unapologetically pink.

The Arts program is where creativity meets heart, this is a treasure trove of events that will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. Check out Gogo’s-tastic production Head Over Heels: The Musical, or for those who crave a night of boundary-pushing entertainment, don’t miss The Kaye Hole, a late-night cabaret extravaganza hosted by the incomparable Reuben Kaye.

Where competition meets camaraderie, the program’s Pride in Sport Festival offers something for everyone, whether you want to spike a volleyball, shoot hoops, or learn salsa moves and self defence.

For something more unique, the Community program brings you the Happy Homo Project’s Big Gay Ice Bath Bonanza on Coogee Beach, offering a mental health boost and community spirit.

Mardi Gras+ also shines a spotlight on underrepresented voices, like the Deaf Drag Divas: Reclaiming Our Spotlight celebrating the intersectionality of deaf and queer identities, and reviving the vibrant history of deaf drag that once lit up Australia’s scene.

Finally, LGBTQIA+ museum Qtopia Sydney shows off its new exhibitions and shows as a part of the newest program. From the renowned She Slayed: A Drag Murder Mystery to the electrifying drag king production They Will Be Kings, these events push boundaries and redefine storytelling through a modern queer lens.

“Mardi Gras+ is all about amplifying community creativity. It’s a celebration of the grassroots talent, passion, and ingenuity that make our community so vibrant,” says Mardi Gras CEO Gil Beckwith.

Whether you’re here to dance, laugh, compete or reflect, Mardi Gras+ is your chance to experience the best of the LGBTQIA+ culture.
