WHAT’S ON (Sydney): Dykes on Bikes Black & White Ball
This Saturday, September 19Â Dykes on Bikes Sydney (DOB) are swapping leather and boots for black frocks and white suits. Marrickville Bowling Club is being transformed to a black and white (yet colourful) scene.
DOB Media Officer Mel Kelly said this year they’re bringing the event back to basics. With meals and drinks available at club prices, live music and comedy; we’re appealing to our members, and to the wider community.
[showads ad=MREC]We’ve secured big names such as Hannah Gadsby who will be performing a 20 minute comedy routine and Cate McGregor who will be our MC for the night. Other exciting acts on the line-up include rockabilly singer That Redhead and her band, winner of 2015 Mardi Gras Lip Sync Battle – Shelly Silberman, the dashing Jonnie Swift and Co. and finally DJ Kelly Chrome to keep the dancing going into the night.
There are prizes up for grabs for best femme, best butch, best couple and belle of the ball as well as lucky door goodies from club supporters such as Max Black, Sydney Leather Pride Association, Riders Highway and Channel 10.
As always, the DOB Black and White Ball is the major fundraising event for Dykes on Bikes member nominated charities, currently the Pinnacle Foundation and Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby.
Tickets are still available (from $25) online at Sticky Tickets OR In person at Max Black, King Street, Newtown OR on the door.
