How would the LGBTQI community feel, if the producers go the same way of thinking and only cast straight roles with only straight actors? Any role should be cast by any performer who can best protray the part.

Respectfully, Hedwig is not a transgender character, but as the creator states, a queer character. Does this outcome mean that trans people should only be given trans roles? If that is not the case, I do not see why Hugh Sheridan cannot play Hedwig, who is a queer character. If there is an audition process and Hugh legitimately won the role, then do we now give it to someone that is less qualified or would not have been successful at the audition, just because they are trans?

Most recently Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, John Cameron Mitchell, Darren Criss, and Taye Diggs have portrayed Hedwig on Broadway. Do we diminish their performances because none of them are transgender? Darren and Taye are in

Reverse discrimination is as bad as failure of representation. The LGBTIQA+ community should to be seeking inclusivity, not greater compartmentalisation based on gender and sexuality
