I don’t quarrel with Brazil as a choice, since despite all the problems mentioned with entrenched religious influence it has been moving in a progressive direction politically, vis a vis recognition of same sex relationships. But there’s no way to make the choice of Russia 2018 or Qatar thereafter look good. There simply isn’t. What does it take to budge FIFA on choosing these places of hell for LGBT?
