The mountains turn pink
By MATT VAUGHAN
We’re now up to day six of the Blue Mountains pinkFEST, the 10-day festival for the GLBT community in the mountains. It’s off to a great start, with the successful Three Sisters annual talent quest held on Saturday and the Majestic Dinner and Ball on Sunday.
With more events still to come this weekend, I am sure that it’s going to be another busy weekend in the mountains, with the opening night of My Queer Career at the Edge Cinema in Katoomba on Friday June 18, followed by pinkFEST Flicks on June 19 and 20.
Although it may be winter, there isn’t a better time to visit an indoor swimming pool. Why not? It’s heated and completely indoors and the pinkFEST Pool Party on June 19 is for the younger members of our community, providing them with something fun, entertaining and something that wouldn’t normally be done in winter.
It will be held at Katoomba Aquatic Sports Centre from 1pm–4pm, so grab a towel and your fashionable swimwear, get your friends together and head out for an afternoon at the pool.
If swimming isn’t your thing and you would prefer to meet up with friends for a drink and a dance then Heaven is the place to be on June 19. It’s their annual charity event, with all proceeds going to community groups in Western Sydney.
All the entertainers are performing free of charge in an effort to raise as much money as possible. Cover charge is $10, but once you get in drinks are at club prices (cheap as). Heaven is at Northmead Bowling Club, Windsor Rd, Northmead.
