Sydney’s got talent
By Anthony Lowe
Yes, it has, and you should know that by now. Sydney is in the midst of talent contests galore……
The Taxi Club, Arq and the Midnight Shift have been hard at work the past couple of months looking for new drag talent. I have even had the pleasure of being a host judge for some of the heats. The up-and-coming drag queens and kings have been delivering some show-stopping numbers.
Keep your eyes open for some new wigs and heels gracing our establishments’ stages.
If drag shows are not your thing, do not fret. Keep your eyes peeled for the new competition getting ready to kick off at the Midnight Shift, So You Think You Can Model. If you think you have the look, the package and don’t mind stripping down and strutting your stuff, why not enter!
If leather is your thing, you will be pleased to know I am currently in the USA representing Sydney on the international stage. As the current Sydney Mr Leather, I am competing at the 32nd International Mr Leather (IML 2010: A Leather Odyssey) along with 54 other handsome and sexy leathermen from around the world.
Although I have previously lived in Potomac, Maryland for three years and nearly another four in Atlanta, Georgia, I had never been to Chicago, Illinois before. For those of you unfamiliar with the USA, Chicago is known as the Windy City and it also the home of the Oprah Winfrey studios.
IML is traditionally held over the Memorial Day June long weekend. This is perfect because it means that all the sexy leathermen don’t have to head back to work on the Monday. This is a huge thing in the US as they are not spoilt with all the public holidays we are used to in Australia.
Right at this very moment, I am surrounded by men in leather, with talent from all over the world, all in one hotel. Naturally I am showing off some of my talents … but that will have to keep for another column!
