(I’m not talking about gay people in general, I’m talking about social cliques) The answer, it seems, is because people want others to think they look good, and want to be validated by them. I’ve had to learn (in my 23 years of life) that the only validation that truly matters comes from myself. True friends look beyond hairlines, waistlines and the presence of bronzed skin. Maybe find some other group to be a part of. One that’s based on people getting together for an activity, one that’s truly open to anyone and doesn’t imply certain types of people are expected to join.
