Services in Lismore
One of the best-kept secrets on the Northern Rivers is that Lismore is home to the largest GLBT population of any regional town in NSW.
Apart from the social opportunities, we have great support and professional services that meet the needs of our diverse communities.
One of the services that is well regarded is the Lesbian Counselling Service.
The service is confidential, inexpensive and located at the local Women’s Health Service. The service operates on Mondays and appointments are essential. Phone counselling is available for women from other areas. The counsellor, a well-respected local community member, has over 10 years experience in the field. Having a professional to help you sort out your own thoughts can be beneficial for your long-term goals. Having a lesbian-specific counselling service also provides a deeper level of awareness of issues and an understanding of specific lesbian concerns.
If you have an issue you would like some assistance with please ring Lismore and District Women’s Health Centre on 6621 9800 to make an appointment.
While counselling is one way to find support, another way to look after your health and wellbeing may be to join a team sport.
If you enjoy hitting a ball with a stick and running like hell, the Blues Sisters gay-friendly softball team might be for you. A new season begins in October and if you are interested in this award-winning team ring D on 0416 796 913.
