Passionate about UNITY
A big thank you to all those who turned out for the launch of ‘Wear it with Pride’ in the Illawarra last week, especially our guest presenters. This is a very important campaign for members of our community to become familiar with after so many changes to legislation.
If you missed the launch and information session, or know someone who wanted to attend but couldn’t, find out how these 85 changes to federal laws may affect you at www.wearitwithpride.com.au
On Friday April 9, UNITY is holding its Annual General Meeting from 7pm at the ACON Illawarra Community Space. This is a great opportunity for those who want to be more involved in community events and decide the direction of UNITY to put their hand up and run for the committee.
Being entirely run by volunteers, UNITY depends on the dedication of its committee and members to survive. If you think your fresh ideas and passion could help to direct UNITY into the future please come along.
To all those currently on the committee, particularly those who have been the long-term supporters and have kept UNITY thriving all these years, I thank you for your time, effort and sacrifices working towards creating a vibrant GLBT community in this area.
UNITY dances in particular were an integral part of my networking and personal support as I was coming out in a regional city with no gay club. I know I speak for many when I say a heartfelt thank you for being there and for your efforts behind the scenes.
Take care, have fun and play safe.
