However, I understand that New Mardi Gras won’t allow the Spectrum staff group to have its own entry in the parade unless Telstra enters a sponsorship deal with New Mardi Gras.

This is pretty unfair to Spectrum members. Why should they be prevented from having a separate entry in the parade just because New Mardi Gras thinks it can obtain more money from the company they work for?

You have to admire the guy for so many reasons, not just for breaking Olympic diving records, but for his battles with depression and for having been so proudly ‘out’ since he was fourteen. It’s a mark of his graciousness, perhaps, that he attributed his difficulty in getting sponsorship to the current financial crisis.

Kudos too, to the Spectrum group of glbqti Telstra employees who pushed for this sponsorship.

Now, if I can just get past the voice queueing computer at Telstra and find a service representative with two brain cells to rub together who can sort out all the cock ups in my bill, I’ll be happy….
