I’ve just heard that perennial Greens candidate and openly gay man Ray Goodlass has won a seat on council in Wagga.

Congratulations Ray on seeing your years of hard work pay off.

Greener by the vote: I suspect that the Greens will find that being in charge is far different than standing back in the gallery pitching hand grenades at the others.

Now they will have to ‘produce’ and not just criticize. I am the eternal optimist in these matters. As a former member of the National Executive of the deceased Australian Democrats I can see the problems of infighting and factions. Maybe the Greens can avoid this, but human nature being what it is, and the lunatic fringe’s influence in the party politics the distance between rhetoric and action increases.

Best wishes to those who have been elected. We can only hope that you serve the people who elected you to the offices that you hold. We expect you, whether we voted for yo or not, to keep the promises you made to the people who voted for you, and at the same time respect and value the rights of those who didn’t vote for you.

“Speedy” is the word. Never in her first term as Lord Mayor has Clover been “speedy” about anything other than “speedily” announcing further delays to straightforward projects ot “consult”. Not that I am opposed to genuine consultation – asking people what they want, then trying to respond, but Clover consultation is code for do nothing until everything goes to hell.

And its not good enough.

Clover petal, you will be judged this term on what you get finished, not on the consultations you announce.

And two years after the “consultation” where is the statue for Harmony Park?
