I’m not a Liberal voter, but the notion that Tasmania is doomed to return to the homophobia of 20 years ago because of the opinions of the Health Minister is a bit much, isn’t it?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe the Health Minister has control over sex education. Isn’t that Rockliff’s portfolio? He supported the Adoption bill.

According to RainbowTas pre-election survey, the Liberals have no plans to repeal any of the legislation or programs put into place by the previous Labor government in relation to adoption, relationship law, anti-discrimination – so, immediately, that’s FAR better than 20 years ago. The only issue of concern would probably be their commitment to adding religious exemptions to some anti-discrimination laws in relation to schools, but that is a separate issue. The Liberals also said they were open to engaging with the LGBTI community. As of right now, I see no reason to doubt their word.

Here is a link to the survey:

I don’t know, maybe I’m just a hopeless optimist, but I really don’t think this should be cause for great concern.
