Changing of the guard
SLPA enters a new year with a new president, new committee members and raring to go with an action packed 2011.
Wayne Daubney has taken over the reins of the organisation and I have replaced him as public officer. Greg Bloye retains his treasurer role and Jon Kok returns as secretary. Joining Bailey we have new committee coming on board, the wonderful volunteers Aaron S and Ray P, and a new member David B plus we see the return to committee of Sam King.
I would also like to thank our retiring committee members David M (who will still continue to offer graphic design services), Tam H for her wonderful job of managing the education and women’s portfolios, and Paul McDonald for his enthusiasm.
And of course we cant forget the very hard work put in by Felicity running our volunteers and Leesa Morgan running SLPA ArtSpace and generally being there when we needed our Leather Person of the Year.
Through 2010 we worked hard to bring you an amazing Inquisition and Leather Pride Week. We were very happy with the results and the feedback I got was very encouraging.
SLPA Dog Tag also worked rather well and thanks to some generous donations at the door helped the organisation survive. We are of course looking for a new venue to host a regular monthly pub night.
I would also like to thank all the people and friends out there that have offered their support and encouragement to me during my term as president. I now look forward to being able to complete a few projects I had little time for last year.
In 2011 SLPA will of course have our usual Mardi Gras Fair Day stall, Mardi Gras Parade entry, regular education workshops and community forums. See you in the new year.
