Correct! But it will not happen under Labor Government too until at least 2019 (at the 46th Australian Parliament). This was guaranteed under the Labor Party July 2015 Platform too, I just read Under Clause(s) 56, 198 and 199 on the Conscience Vote, after 2019 it becomes a BINDING VOTE! That is of course Labor gets in the Australian Parliament as a majority within 2019 too!

Just have a scheme for EVERYONE called the “Adult Human Relationships Recognition Act 2016” that replaces the repealed legislation! This has been dragged on and on and on for far too long now kicking and screaming! Marriage equality will be excellent and will contribute to the Australian economy by $1 billion according to an ANZ study a month ago – however marriage equality will NOT end discrimination in Australia – there are 17 state or territory laws in a number of areas –

LGB rights:
* Remember same-sex couples also still can not adopt children in QLD, SA and NT (a legalization gay adoption bill is pending in VIC, just 1 vote away in the upper house – 20 votes are secure by Labor, Greens and Sex Party, need just one more);
* IVF access for single woman and lesbians is still banned in only SA for some stupid reason;
* The age of consent is still unequal in only QLD for some stupid reason;
* Altruistic Surrogacy is still banned for same-sex couples in only both WA and SA;
* The gay panic defence is still allowed in only both QLD and SA; and
* There is no formal relationship recognition scheme (such as a civil union) in WA, NT and SA!

TI Rights:
* Intersex people and Trans* people must be recognised in the births, deaths and marriages legislation of all states and territories;
* End the horrible, archaic and out-dated forced divorces of Trans* people;
* Both conversion therapy and revenge porn must be outlawed in Australia – like what Oregon, California, Illinois, Oregon, New Jersey, DC, Argentina, Brazil have done!
