Maybe Mags, safe and secure in her suburban bigotry with her tiny congregation who, stupidly, believe every word she utters can tell us just how many Farmers she actually knows?
My bet is that this once-great tennis player knows few if any.
She and her ilk of Fundamentalist Pentecostals love to drag out verses, 2 or 3 word phrases out of the Bible and twist them to suit their needs. Never mind that they take those verses and phrases completely out of context.
Mags and her ilk simply gloss over or refuse to acknowledge those Chapters, verses and phrases in the Bible which goes against their twisted, inaccurate views.
They simply refuse to acknowledge that in the Bible, Women are classed as “Chattels”, they are Owned by their Husbands or Fathers.
They refuse to acknowledge that The Bible – which they all claim is “The One True Word of God and should Never, ever be questioned” – also approves of Slavery, It approves of Women, but Not Men, being Stoned to Death if any of them commit Adultery. They answer those sort of stated facts with “Well that was then but things have changed”
Rubbish, Mags, absolute rubbish. If, as you and your mates truly believe the Bible is what you all claim then you cannot discard any part of it. To do so is to Defy the Word of God!

And even on the other side of the world where I grew up on a farm, went away to the city to live and work and came back for a long visit with my parents, I discovered that they were more accepting of me and my partner than I ever would have believed; the same with the people I went to a country school with. When my first novel came out, former mates and friends lined up in the small town to get a copy—Common Sons. I had written of a small town, farmers who were gay, and my old school mates loved it.
