Volunteers needed for HIV research

A researcher from the Burnet Institute is calling for HIV-positive and HIV-negative men to participate in research to understand how immune cells use nutrients to keep them active and how HIV infection may affect the process.

It is hoped the research will lead to the development of nutritional treatments for HIV infection to boost the body鈥檚 immune system and reduce the impact of HIV infection.

The research has been funded by the US National Institutes of Health, the International
AIDS Society, and Centers for AIDS Research, USA.

Participants must be aged between 20 and 90 years and not had an illness, physical trauma or vaccination, such as the flu vaccine, in the last three weeks.

Those interested are required to give a blood sample and complete a short general health questionnaire.
