Star appointment
Australia鈥檚 largest LGBTI newspaper, the Star Observer, has announced the appointment of a new CEO/publisher.
Daniel Bone has been appointed to the newly created role, having previously served as the independent chairman of the publication for five years.
In addition to his media experience, Bone has worked for 15 years in senior managerial positions in the digital and software development industries, and been actively involved in assisting numerous LGBTI community organisations.
The Star Observer is the result of the combination of two local LGBTI newspapers from Sydney and Melbourne – the Sydney Star Observer and Southern Star Observer – under a single national masthead, with a combined national team of journalists and contributors.

鈥淏ecause we are a community-owned organisation, we invest the proceeds of our business back into LGBTI community projects.
鈥淭o ensure we can keep up these vital contributions, we will be evaluating and building additional revenue streams to complement our existing activities.鈥�
Sebastian Rice has been appointed as chairman to fill the vacancy caused by Bone鈥檚 change of role. Rice has been an independent board member since 2009 and previously served as chairman of Queer Screen, which produces the Mardi Gras Film Festival.
