Rebel Wilson’s On-Screen Kiss And How It Changed Her Life
Aussie actress Rebel Wilson has admitted that if it weren鈥檛 for her first onscreen kiss with a woman, she isn鈥檛 sure that she would have met her partner Ramona Agruma.
The 42-year-old Pitch Perfect star recently spoke with the Hollywood Reporter about kissing co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg in their upcoming movie The Almond and the Seahorse.
鈥淚鈥檇 never kissed a woman before so I was thinking, 鈥極h God, how鈥檚 that going to go?鈥欌 she said.
鈥淚 don鈥檛 know why I said that but I just felt it could work.鈥
鈥淚 had kind of had a situation with a woman before, not a sexual relationship and we hadn鈥檛 kissed or anything. But then the kiss with Charlotte came up. I didn鈥檛 think it was that big of a deal or anything.鈥
Wilson Suggested Character Change
And interestingly enough, it was Wilson who suggested that Gainsbourg鈥檚 character be changed from a man to a woman.
鈥淲hen I first read the script, Charlotte鈥檚 character, Toni, was written as a man. I was the one who said, 鈥極K, I feel like a woman could play it,’鈥澨齏ilson said as reported by The听Hollywood Reporter.
鈥淥riginally, it was supposed to be Pierce Brosnan playing that character but then schedules didn鈥檛 align. I felt that we should open it up to a woman and they offered it to Charlotte. I don鈥檛 know why I said that but I just felt it could work.鈥
The Kiss That Led To Ramona
According to Wilson, the on-screen kiss with her co-star is what eventually led her to her partner, Agruma.
鈥淭hat was in 2021 and then I met Ramona at the end of 2021. If I hadn鈥檛 had the experience with Charlotte or the experience with the other woman, I don鈥檛 know if I would have ever met Ramona,鈥 she said.
鈥淗aving those experiences opened my heart up to it as a possibility. I鈥檓 grateful for those two experiences. It changed my love life completely. It鈥檚 such an awesome thing.鈥
