It’s been a simple consistent message of love and equality. Any poor behaviour has been from a few ratbags with a few hundred Twitter accounts. The No campaign has had their share of ratbags too, and what hateful idiots they are, but I’m judging them not by their ratbags but by the comments of their mainstream politicians, archbishops and celebrities like Margaret Court. The No campaign has been a mad-house of claims ranging from biological parents are the only valid parents (thus disparaging all step-parents despite the reality that step-parenting is as old a tradition as biological parenting for simple reasons of survival) to marriage equality will destroy our way of life to marriage equaltiy means the end of Christmas.

I’m obviously hoping for a Yes win, but you can never underestimate the power of a mad campaign of lies. Trump’s promise to re-establish manufacturing and deliver perfect health care is going nowhere. The Brexit campaign has admitted their promise to restore 350 million pounds a week to the NHS was bollocks. But both Trump and Brexit won on lies and the world is stuck with the consequences.
