I hope soon that similar laws are implemented within Victoria, Queensland and NSW too in the near future! The law dates back to 1996 – that still explicitly requires “surgery” needs to be repealed within NSW, because I am personally still waiting for my gender-neutral birth certificate as well.

So when do we get it in NSW?

Probably the state with the most number of transgender women, and the state where transgender women have been part of the public scene for far longer than in the other states, yet we don’t get the same? Why?
