I think you made a mistake in your article. Peter Wellington actually voted in favour of the Civil Unions bill according to old BrisbaneTimes and ABC articles. He refused to be intimidated by the ACL and other organisations with similar interests in pressuring him to vote against his conscious to support the bill.
