Postal survey response estimated at 77 per cent with a week to go

The second-last postal survey estimate before the November 7 deadline puts the return figure at 12.3 million, or 77 per cent of all eligible Australians.

While the recommended postal deadline was last Friday, ballots posted this week may still make it to the ABS in time says Equality Campaign director Tiernan Brady.
“There鈥檚 still time to have your voice heard even if you haven鈥檛 posted your ballot yet. The deadline isn鈥檛 until the 7th聽of November, so posting your ballot this week means it still can get there.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not too late. Don鈥檛 throw it in the bin, put it in the post,” Brady said.
鈥淒on鈥檛 expect marriage equality to get over the line with someone else鈥檚 vote. If you want marriage equality to happen you have to make your voice heard.”
If you haven’t returned your form it’s not too late, as they can be returned in person at drop-off centres in capital cities .
Forms can be returned to drop-off centres between 8:30am and 4:30pm on weekdays up to November 7 (excluding Melbourne, where November 6 will be the final day due to the public holiday).
The ABS has also advised that Australians using online response forms and the Interactive Voice Response have until 9pm (AEDT) on November 7 to register their vote.
The final result of the postal survey will be announced on November 15.
