Sydney leather pride, bigger and better
Sydney Leather Pride last week voted to enlarge its board in a move which, it is hoped, will inject new ideas and enthusiasm into the group.
It was decided at the AGM to increase the size of the board to 12 people, in light of the level of interest from people wanting to get involved with SLPA.
The presidency remains in the hands of Greg Bloyd who will be joined on the board by Alan Norman, David Malone, Gary Kennedy, Ken Ingall, Jon Kok, Chris Cornforth, Bailey, Rod Spark, Rod Blume.
We’ve now got a bigger board because there were so many at the AGM who were interested in the organisation and had ideas. They didn’t want to go through the election process only to be cast aside as just members. They wanted to be involved, so we said OK, Greg Bloyd explained.
What it will mean is that one job doesn’t fall solely on the shoulders of one person, they can share it. It means they’ve got support and can work together, which will help to stop the decline of the group. It will make it a more interesting, a more lively association and get the interest back of our former members and of people who have thought about being members.
Bloyd said the board’s main objectives over the coming year are to increase membership, to organise events every quarter and to try and give greater attention to the under-35s market.
