Pride’s high in the west
More than 500 people went to the Parramatta Pride Picnic at Parramatta Park on Sunday.
The day had the dual purpose of providing a social environment for western Sydney’s gay and lesbian population and their friends and family, as well as raising money for the Western Suburbs Haven, thanks to a very popular barbecue.
It was great to see so many community members, families, children and pets, co-organiser Matt Vaughan said.
The Parramatta Pride picnic was opened by the Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Paul Barber. Originally just coming along to check it out, Barber stayed for most of the day talking with people and service providers and also getting involved in the activities.
We would especially like to thank the Lord Mayor, Paul Barber, Team Sydney, all the service providers there on the day and everyone who came along and supported the Parramatta Pride Picnic. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
