Party away your parade hangover
It has become somewhat of a tradition for Mardi Gras partygoers to head north to Noosa to chill out after a hectic week of parties and events. This year’s 30th anniversary parade is going to be the bigger than ever, with some half a million Sydneysiders and visitors expected to attend.
The annual Noosa Mardi Gras recovery week kicks off next Monday 3 March, with a gala dinner at berardo’s restaurant, with Trevor Ashley from the hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert as the special guest performer.
Organisers have been working with local business to ensure that Noosa, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, enhances its image as a popular gay-friendly destination.
One of the week’s highlights is the Recovery party and slave auction at the Rolling Rock nightclub on Tuesday night. Tickets are available from Horizons at Peregian resort, a venue that will also play host to the Mardi Gras pool and beach party on Wednesday afternoon.
Other events planned for Thursday and Friday include a sunset river cruise and a safari to the Noosa north shore and coloured sands.
