Let the laughs begin this summer
Summer Gay Day is just around the corner but the festival isn’t just about music and dancing. Comedian Jackie Loeb is set to make the event a day of laughs and smiles.
“I’m so excited. All those lovely young fillies in the paddock to take advantage of,” Loeb said.
“Actually, I always feel like a homeless woman at big gay events. Everyone is so glam and I can hardly do my belt buckle up.”
The incredibly funny comedian will be featured in the popular Summer Camp Pavilion alongside the likes of Aunty Mavis and The Hoopaholics.
Loeb said what’s so fabulous about performing for a gay audience is that no one’s rushing off to play the pokies or drinking VB.
“I think gay audiences are more open-minded and won’t throw things at me if I accidentally say something derogatory about John Howard,” she said.
“I was thinking of wearing a leotard, but I think punters might ask for their money back if that happens.”
Second release tickets for the 1 December festival are still on sale.
“Wouldn’t it be great if every day were a gay day? Imagine how happy everyone would be,” Loeb said.
“All those bright colours and men going to work with no shirt on, and women allowed to take their dogs everywhere and women’s pool comps every night of the week.
“It gives the community a chance to get together and make new friends and an opportunity to witness the best entertainment, hear the best music and smooch the gayest gays.”
Tickets for Summer Gay Day start at $89 plus booking fee and can be bought from Samesame.com.au, Moshtix, Salt Clinic and HUM Darlinghurst and Newtown.
