Jamaican lesbian murder
New York-based gay activism group Human Rights Watch has urged the Jamaican government to investigate a recent murder of two women alleged to have been in a lesbian relationship.Candice Williams and Phoebe Myrie were brutally killed in June, with police naming Williams’ former male partner as the main suspect. The women’s alleged relationship was listed as the motive.A Human Rights Watch spokesperson urged the government and local police force to take the matter seriously, and take steps to fix the culture of homophobia among Jamaican officials.
