History lesson for young gays
Sydney’s Queer Peer Project -“ with the support of ACON and Twenty10 -“ is hosting a queer youth forum in Newtown on Saturday 3 November.
Queerversity will start out with a panel of speakers chosen to give young gays and lesbians an insight into the past. Speakers will include a man who was arrested at the first protest in 1978, a young activist involved in the fight for equality and a gay performer.
The panel speeches will be followed by workshops on HIV, cultural diversity, performance and the role and importance of the group Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).
It will then be followed by an evening of performances including drag, burlesque, music, the spoken word and poetry.
Queerversity will be held at the Twenty10 offices in Bedford St, Newtown, on 3 November from 4.30pm. RSVPs and offers to perform should directed to [email protected].
