Daily Tele called out by Media Watch for ‘non-apology’
THE Daily Telegraph has drawn criticism for its editor鈥檚 鈥渘on-apology鈥 over last week鈥檚 controversial infographic.
appeared in a story on young people鈥檚 health, and appeared to place same-sex attraction alongside health risks such as drug use and obesity.
called editor Chris Dore鈥檚 response to protests over the story a 鈥渘on-apology鈥.
鈥淯nfortunately the presentation of the story has been misinterpreted,鈥 Dore posted on Facebook.
鈥淭he story in no way suggests, or intends to suggest, that same-sex relationships are unhealthy.
鈥淭here is no judgement expressed at all in the story other than about diet.鈥
Media Watch called the ensuing backlash 鈥渁 tsunami of criticism鈥.
鈥淲as it just a misunderstanding?鈥 asked host Paul Barry.
鈥淚 hardly think so. At best, it was a stupid mistake.
鈥淏ut the Tele learning a lesson is probably too much to hope.鈥
