Ben and Jerry’s to deliver pro-marriage equality messages to politicians
AS politicians head back to Canberra after the long weekend, Ben & Jerry鈥檚 is delivering on its mission to fight for marriage equality in Australia.
Ben & Jerry鈥檚 scoop shops installed their own post boxes to encourage customers to take action by sending a message to MPs supporting marriage equality ahead of the next parliamentary session today.
Last month, Ben & Jerry鈥檚 the sale of same flavour scoops as a way to shine a spotlight on the need to extend marriage rights to same-sex couples.
Since the ban came into effect, thousands of people around the world have joined Ben & Jerry鈥檚 in the fight for marriage equality in Australia鈥攅ven celebrities like Ashton Kutcher have added their voices calling for equal love for everyone.
鈥淲e鈥檝e made it easy for Australians to take action, by sending a message to MPs and urging them to make marriage equality a reality when they return to Canberra,鈥 said Imogen Rugg, Ben & Jerry鈥檚 Australia spokesperson.
鈥淲e have been overwhelmed by the level of support for our campaign internationally and here in Australia. If you haven鈥檛 or can鈥檛 send a postcard, make sure you have your say鈥攖he fight for marriage equality won’t stop until same sex couples are extended the same civil rights as heterosexual couples.鈥
Australian marriage equality supporters can still and their message will be delivered directly to MPs through The Equality Campaign.
